Job summary

Capital One is building responsible AI systems and scalable AI infrastructure in Cambridge, MA. You will design, develop, and deploy AI software components—training, inference, and agent workflows—partnering with engineers, researchers, and PMs to deliver high-impact, real-time customer experiences.

You will work with a broad stack (AWS, HuggingFace, PyTorch) and contribute to governance, evaluation methodologies, and performance optimizations for large-scale AI systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field with at least 1 year (Master's) or 3 years (Bachelor's) of AI/ML experience.
• 3+ years of experience programming with Python, Go, Scala, CUDA, or Java.
• Experience contributing to AI systems with cost, latency, throughput tradeoffs.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components.
• Lead development and benchmarking of multi-turn conversational and agent workflows.
• Collaborate with research and data engineering teams on data curation and model evaluation.
• Mentor junior AI engineers and promote engineering excellence.
