Job summary

Dark Wolf in Chantilly/Herndon, VA seeks a Senior AI Engineer to design and deploy secure AI-driven solutions for federal and defense enterprises. You will build RAG systems, semantic search over legacy databases and literature, and NLP pipelines for classification and translation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI/ML, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience engineering production-grade AI/ML systems (or 3+ years with a Master's/Ph.D.).
• Hands-on experience fine-tuning, evaluating, and deploying open-source and proprietary LLMs, embedding models, and vector databases.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems and LLM agents to query, summarize, and synthesize insights across large volumes of data.
• Build semantic search engines integrating internal databases, data lakes, and literature via APIs.
• Implement NLP translation, automated document classification, and multi-document summarization for science/tech gap analysis.
• Develop AI chatbots and virtual agents delivering role-based recommendations and skills gap analysis.
• Create NLP-driven tasking models to query data sources and draft contextual responses with audit trails.
• Design ML algorithms for anomaly detection, predictive modeling, and causal inference to forecast risks and resource needs.
• Collaborate with UI/UX and data engineers to build dashboards enabling natural language querying and drill-down analytics.
• Design automated ingestion and ETL/ELT pipelines to unify disparate data formats into a Data Fabric schema.
• Implement Explainable AI techniques to ensure transparency of model recommendations.
• Ensure AI models and data storage comply with DoD security regulations (e.g., NIST, FedRAMP).
