Job summary

Datasite's NYC-based engineering team builds secure software for dealmakers, offering AI-assisted diligence and data room capabilities. You will join a critical engineering group, collaborating with Product and Services teams to deliver reliable, scalable components.

The role requires 10+ years leading multi-team initiatives and a strong background in backend, distributed systems, and API design. Hybrid work near Central Park, with three in-office days per week.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience leading technical initiatives across multiple teams.
• Expertise in backend, platform, distributed systems, or full-stack product engineering with scalable systems.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, TypeScript, Kotlin, or comparable modern language; ability to set language/framework direction.
• Deep fluency with AI-assisted development tools and agentic coding workflows.
• Extensive experience building production REST APIs.
• Strong system design and architecture experience.
• Experience with distributed systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to influence senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for production agent systems, including planning, tool selection, subagent orchestration, context and state management, and structured outputs.
• Create, maintain, and optimize databases (MongoDB, Redis), ensuring data integrity and security.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs to enable communication between server and client-side applications, as well as with third-party services.
• Implement security measures to protect data and applications from unauthorized access and vulnerabilities.
• Contribute to system design and architectural decisions — evaluate tradeoffs and communicate technical direction.
• Review and approve pull requests; plan and scope deliverables against timelines.
• Optimize platform performance and identify and fix bugs.
• Mentor and grow senior engineers and influence technical direction across the organization.
• Write and maintain documentation for code, processes, and best practices.
