The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is seeking a Senior AI Engineer for a 3-year limited-term position in Seattle, WA, to design and build modern AI systems. The Foundation is the largest nonprofit fighting poverty, disease, and inequity worldwide, and this role is part of the Institute for Disease Modeling team, which develops computational modeling tools to support global health efforts. With a team of research scientists and software developers, the Senior AI Engineer will work on projects with real-world impact for global public good.

Overview

The Senior AI Engineer will work on designing and building modern AI systems, including agentic AI systems, retrieval pipelines, and backend services. The role involves collaborating with researchers, analysts, and program staff to translate domain problems into shippable systems for global health and development.
