Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology, Inc. is seeking an experienced AI/ML Engineer at Chantilly, VA to design and deploy AI-driven solutions, including large language models, across complex business challenges.

Support national security missions by building and deploying AI-driven solutions, including large language model development and evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop innovative AI-driven solutions to address complex problems and improve business processes.
• Collect, clean, and preprocess large volumes of structured and unstructured data from multiple sources.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and relevance for training and evaluation activities.
• Train, validate, and optimize large language models using state-of-the-art techniques and frameworks.
• Evaluate model performance, interpret results, and iterate on model design as needed.
• Extract, select, and engineer features from raw data to enhance model performance and generalization.
• Apply domain knowledge and data exploration to identify informative features.
• Monitor production model performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Implement automated monitoring and alerting to detect anomalies and performance degradation.
• Document technical designs, implementation details, and best practices for AI solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists, software engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and prioritize delivery of impactful AI solutions.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or other related analytical, scientific, or technical discipline.
• Experience: 5+ years of related experience.
• Experience designing, developing, implementing, and using machine learning algorithms and large language models for business challenges and opportunities.
• Experience with use cases including predictive analytics, natural language processing, computer vision, and recommender systems.
• Understanding of agentic AI frameworks such as Pydantics, CrewAI, and Langchain.
• Programming proficiency in Python and Java.
• Security clearance: TS/SCI with Polygraph.
• Ability to work independently under general supervision with strong documentation and communication skills.
• Strong user interaction and business analysis skills.
• Preferred: Understanding of supervised and unsupervised learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, large language models, generative AI, and ensemble methods.
• Preferred: Familiarity with machine learning libraries and frameworks.
• Preferred: Knowledge of software development best practices, version control systems, and agile methodologies.
