Job summary

Walt Disney Animation Studios is seeking an Emerging Technology Sr. Software Engineer to design and implement agentic workflows that empower production technologists and artists.

You will build and maintain agent definitions, orchestrations, and MCP-based integrations with studio data, pipelines, and tools such as Maya, Houdini, and Nuke. You will collaborate across platform, data, and security teams to ensure safe, scalable solutions while contributing reusable patterns and documentation for

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or comparable field of study or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of software development, AI/ML engineering, or related disciplines.
• Proficiency in C++ with solid software engineering fundamentals.
• Hands-on experience with large language models, agents, tool use, and prompt engineering.
• Familiarity with agentic frameworks, SDKs, and protocols (MCP, ADK, OpenAI/LangGraph).
• Experience with API design and backend services; SQL familiarity.
• Experience with containerization and CI/CD tooling (Docker, Kubernetes, GitLab CI/CD).
• Comfort in UNIX/Linux environments.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain agents and agentic workflows for production teams.
• Define agent definition frameworks, orchestration, runtime components, and prompt management.
• Develop MCP servers, APIs, and integrations to connect agents to studio data and tools (Maya, Houdini, Nuke).
• Create agent context artifacts (memory, tools, and prompts) for reliability.
• Guide use cases from concept to MVP to production with stakeholders.
• Collaborate with platform, data, security teams to align with standards and guardrails.
• Create standards, blueprints, and reusable patterns for agentic development.
• Evaluate emerging technologies; run experiments and share findings.
• Provide demos, docs, and knowledge sharing with engineers and artists.
