Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. is seeking a senior backend architect to shape the vision and delivery of intelligent enterprise applications. You will design and lead hands-on implementation, and act as the architectural anchor for embedding autonomous capabilities into critical workflows.

Focus is on the application layer, contract‑first API design, and connecting business logic, UIs, and back-end systems to reasoning models via MCP and modern APIs. Strong collaboration and leadership are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 12+ years of experience in back-end software architecture and core software development using Python, Node, Go, or Java.
• Experience building and shipping complex enterprise or SaaS applications.
• Production experience with LLM-backed applications: LangGraph, a state-machine runtime you wrote yourself, structured tool calling, and the failure handling that has to sit underneath both.

• Design and lead the hands-on implementation of next-generation intelligent enterprise applications.
• Serve as the architectural anchor for embedding autonomous and semi-autonomous capabilities into business-critical workflows.
• Focus on the application layer with contract-first API design connecting UI, business logic and back-end systems to reasoning models via MCP and modern API ecosystems.
