Job summary

Optimum is seeking a Senior SOC Engineer (AI & Automation) to design and operate AI-driven detection, triage, and response tooling for our Security Operations Center. You will bridge security and software engineering to deploy LLM-enabled copilots, auto-triage agents, and robust detection pipelines.

As a senior engineer, you’ll lead investigations during major incidents and drive improvements across detections, automations, and playbooks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience
• 7+ years of combined experience across security operations, incident response, and software engineering
• Hands-on incident response and digital forensics experience preferred
• Strong programming skills (Python) and software-engineering practices
• Hands-on experience building with AI/ML, including LLMs and agentic frameworks
• Experience with SOAR/automation and detection engineering (detection-as-code)
• Data engineering skills with large security datasets, APIs, and pipelines
• Knowledge of SOC operations and incident lifecycle (MITRE ATT&CK, NIST SP 800-61)
• Cloud security experience and awareness of AI/LLM security risks
• Ability to translate fluently between security and engineering stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain AI/ML- and automation-driven capabilities for alert enrichment, correlation, triage, and prioritization
• Develop and maintain SOAR automations and detection-as-code pipelines
• Integrate LLM and agentic AI tooling into SOC workflows
• Evaluate, benchmark, and tune AI models for security use cases
• Build data pipelines from security telemetry for ML use cases
• Apply MLOps practices to security models in production
• Ensure responsible and secure AI use, including data governance and defenses
• Lead investigations and incident response support across on-prem and cloud
• Own post-incident reviews and root cause analyses to improve detections and playbooks
• Develop incident-response playbooks and tabletop exercises
• Define and report detection metrics to measure SOC effectiveness
• Mentor analysts and engineers and promote an AI-first SOC
