Job summary

Asterism IT Solutions seeks a hands-on Senior Desktop Engineer to design, develop, and ship cross‑platform desktop applications for macOS and Windows. You will build AI‑enabled experiences that automate complex workflows and replace browser‑heavy processes with streamlined desktop solutions.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in software engineering, extensive Electron experience, and strong API integration skills (REST/GraphQL).

Qualifications

8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
Production cross-platform desktop apps using Electron or comparable frameworks.
Experience developing for both macOS and Windows.
Designing intuitive and accessible desktop user experiences.
Automating manual workflows into desktop-first applications.
Desktop capabilities: caching/sync, background tasks, notifications, deep links, file/system integration, multi-window.
AI/LLM integration into end-user apps (LLMs, RAG, agents, orchestration, conversations).
REST, GraphQL, and event-driven services integration.
Desktop release/deploy: code signing, notarization, auto-updates, CI/CD, distribution, MDM, crash monitoring, UI testing, phased rollouts.
Python or similar backend language.
Cloud platforms: Azure, AWS, or GCP.
Containers, CI/CD, observability.
OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, enterprise SSO.
Local data protection with keychain/credential vaults.
Strong communication skills.
Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and ship cross‑platform desktop apps for macOS and Windows.
Build AI‑enabled desktop experiences that streamline complex workflows.
Replace manual/browser-heavy processes with efficient desktop workflows.
Integrate desktop apps with enterprise APIs, AI services, and backend platforms.
Implement secure authentication and enterprise SSO integrations.
Build reliable desktop release, update, monitoring, and deployment processes.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering standards.
Monitor performance, stability, and user experience.
