Job summary

Augusta University seeks a Senior AI Engineer to lead the design, development, deployment, and operation of AI systems supporting health research, clinical innovation, education, and enterprise initiatives. You will provide technical leadership across AI projects, translating requirements into secure, scalable, and maintainable AI solutions.

Qualifications

• Requires Master’s degree with 5+ years in software engineering, ML, AI, data engineering, cloud computing, or related field.
• OR Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years in software engineering, ML, AI, data engineering, cloud computing, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, implementation, and deployment of AI, ML, and generative AI solutions.
• Design production-ready AI architectures, including model serving, APIs, retrieval systems, data pipelines, vector databases, and workflow orchestration.
• Translate research, clinical, and operational requirements into scalable, maintainable technical solutions.
• Lead technical standards, code quality, testing, and deployment practices.
• Mentor AI engineers, analysts, students, and other technical staff in modern AI engineering practices.
• Collaborate with faculty, researchers, clinicians, analysts, and institutional partners to define requirements and develop effective solutions.
