Job description

Senior Agronomic Data Analyst

This position can be done remote/virtual from anywhere in the United States.

This position will work collaboratively in the development of analytical products within the Phenotyping laboratory for proprietary STAMPs (Seed Treatment, Adjuvants, Micro-Nutrients, and Plant Growth Regulators), field-based biological testing platforms, plant nutrition product field-testing, and fee-for-service projects. This position will also assist in developing a field phenomics platform using remote sensing and UAV technology. Responsibilities include creating and maintaining long-term data solutions for data mining, storage, and high-throughput data analytics. The data analyst will collaborate with Product Development Research Managers to generate and interpret data for WinField United proprietary projects and technologies provided by industry partners, effectively communicating results to stakeholders to meet timelines and goals.

Data analytics and managing work streams (50%)

  • Collaborate with field and controlled environment researchers to design experiments, optimize data collection protocols, and ensure data quality for product evaluation.
  • Create and maintain long-term data solutions within the WinField United framework for mining, storage, and high-throughput data analytics.
  • Interpret and communicate results to stakeholders within Product Development to ensure technologies progress through the WinField United process.
  • Experience processing RGB, multi-spectral, and hyperspectral images to derive plant measurements and examine plant growth and development under stress conditions.
  • Utilize data visualization tools effectively to develop market support collateral.
  • Support Winfield United biological product characterization both in-field and in controlled environments.

Method Development and Instrumentation (50%)

  • Design and implement automated data pipelines for image processing and analysis from field and controlled environment phenotyping data using Python, R, and cloud computing platforms.
  • Investigate AI/machine learning algorithms to extract plant traits from remote sensing and UAV data.
  • Create reproducible data workflows with version control and documentation.
  • Stay updated on advances in phenotyping analysis within the agronomics field.

Required Experience/Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in Python & R.
  • Experience with business analytics platforms such as Power BI and Tableau.
  • Understanding of agricultural inputs.

Preferred:

  • Experience with image-based plant phenotyping, remote sensing, or other image-based structure characterization.
  • Master’s degree in Data Science or Computer Science preferred.
  • Experience with containerization using Docker.

Must be willing to travel up to 20%.
