Job summary

Shield AI seeks a Principal Aerostructures Design Engineer to own the design and development of high-performance structural systems for next‑gen autonomous aircraft. You will drive concept, CAD modeling, detail design, and drawing release while ensuring manufacturability and mission-readiness.

You will collaborate across aerodynamics, propulsion, avionics, and manufacturing, mentor junior engineers, and lead design reviews in a high‑ownership environment, with a focus on composites and metals

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline.
• 15+ years of experience in aircraft structural design with ownership of components or systems.
• Expertise in CAD tools and FEA tools including linear/nonlinear analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of structural components and assemblies for UAV platform structures.
• Own the structural design lifecycle from concept to drawing release.
• Perform and guide FEA, stress analysis, and margin assessment under diverse loads.
