Job summary

Ursa Major is seeking a Senior Thermal/Ablation Analyst to perform high-fidelity thermal analyses ensuring performance and reliability of propulsion and defense systems in a fast-paced development environment.

You will collaborate with design, manufacturing, and test teams to support development, qualification, and production programs, develop and validate analytical models, and prepare technical reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 4+ years of aerospace thermal analysis experience.
• Proficiency in finite element and computational thermal analysis tools.
• Strong understanding of heat transfer, thermal expansion, and high-temperature materials.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and test data.
• Level may vary with experience (multiple levels possible).

Responsibilities

• Conduct thermal modeling for components and systems under extreme conditions.
• Perform transient and steady-state thermal analyses to evaluate heat transfer and material response.
• Develop and validate analytical models using industry-standard software.
• Assess insulation, ablative materials, and thermal protection system performance.
• Correlate predictions with test data and refine models accordingly.
• Support design and manufacturing teams to optimize thermal performance.
