Job summary

American Honda Motor Company, Inc. is seeking a Senior System Safety Engineer to lead the system safety program for FAA Part 23 airworthiness compliance.

You will drive safety strategy across engineering disciplines, oversee hazard analyses, and coordinate with regulators to secure aircraft type certification. You will collaborate with human factors teams to evaluate flight deck interfaces and validate pilot responses during HITL testing, while guiding teams through safety-critical architectures

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of direct experience in System Safety Engineering, preferably within the aerospace industry.

Responsibilities

• Plan, perform, and approve aircraft- and system-level safety assessments (FHA, PSSA, SSA, FTA, FMEA/FMECA, CMA, PRA, ZSA).
• Develop and release safety requirements, analysis data, and compliance evidence; present positions to FAA representatives and other stakeholders.
• Review supplier safety artifacts and data for technical adequacy and safety objectives.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to shape architectures and instantiate hazard mitigations early in development.
• Maintain FDAL/IDAL, traceability between hazards, safety requirements, design, and verification evidence; assess design changes for safety impact.
• Plan safety deliverables and reviews to support milestones and certification plans.
• Mentor engineers, perform independent technical reviews, and improve methods and tools.
