Senior Aerospace Quality Engineer (Albany, OR)

Quality Engineer - Aerospace Manufacturing

The Quality Engineer is responsible for driving quality forward by effective communication both internally and externally. The role focuses on maintaining configuration control documentation, managing multiple customer accounts (OEMs and sub-tiers), and supporting critical QMS processes required by AS9100, AS13100, or other industry standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain configuration control documentation through contract review and blueprint/specification control.
  • Manage multiple customer accounts, including OEMs and sub-tiers; act as backup Quality Engineer for additional customers as needed.
  • Possess responsibility for critical QMS processes per industry standards.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to submit waivers and concessions as required or requested.
  • Work with Engineering to review and submit First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
  • Investigate and disposition customer complaints and returns.
  • Communicate corrective actions to customers and internally.
  • Review purchase orders related to customer items.
  • Act as the internal quality representative for all internal and external customers.
  • Achieve certification for source inspection as necessary, including completing training and certification.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects and support training/coaching initiatives.
  • Serve as an internal auditor, participating in internal, external, special process, and customer audits.
  • Perform specification reviews of industry standards and customer specifications, assisting audit preparation by certifying bodies.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for customer-specific requirements and organizational specialty areas as appropriate.
  • May be assigned additional duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • 5+ years as a Quality Engineer or comparable quality discipline.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience with ISO9001 or AS9100 and experience in the casting industry preferred.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, basic use of networks and network folders.
  • Ability to upload and download information from various customer websites.
  • Effective communication skills in person, via conference call, group meetings, and email.
  • Strong written communication with clear instructions.
  • Excellent organization and multitasking skills.
  • Willingness and ability to work in a high‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
  • Positive attitude and commitment to getting the job done.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and detailed customer specifications.
  • Self‑directed and able to work independently.
