Job summary

The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) is seeking a Senior Manager of Media Relations to energy-fully drive communications strategy, coordinating media outreach, and ensuring cohesive messaging for Capitol Hill, media, and the public. You will support and coordinate nationwide outreach on aerospace and defense issues.

You will help craft press materials, build reporter relationships, and ensure timely, accurate messaging across platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• 4-7 years of communications experience.
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Self-starter who can work independently and with a team.
• Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to multi-task under tight deadlines.
• Proficient in applicable technology programs and applications.
• Experience measuring the effectiveness of communication strategies.
• Experience within the legislative or executive branch is a plus.
• Experience with PR platforms (Cision) is a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Work across the communications team and broader organization to advance AIA priorities, align its message, build its brand, and support its members and team.
• Contribute creatively to AIA editorial calendar and amplify advocacy and outreach efforts.
• Help build reporter relationships by maintaining press lists and updates on outlets and reporters.
• Develop and edit key written deliverables including press releases and talking points.
• Prepare AIA experts and members for media interviews and speaking engagements.
• Track communications outputs and monitor effectiveness of strategies.
• Manage vendor support for media database and other communications tools.
• Stay on top of news relevant to AIA and the aerospace and defense industry.
