Job summary

Extex Engineered Products, a division of Kaman located in Gilbert, Arizona, seeks a Sr Design Engineer to lead design and development of aircraft engine components and helicopter parts. You will generate PMAs, create SolidWorks drawings, and manage multiple projects from design to certification with FAA documentation.

Applicants should have 10+ years in engineering, 5+ years in aerospace, and strong knowledge of FAA processes and industry standards. Occasional travel and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years related experience in Engineering required.
• Minimum of 5 years related experience in Aerospace/Aviation required.
• Proven ability to design and engineer aircraft components/systems.
• Strong understanding of engineering specifications (AS, ASME, Mil, ASTM, etc)
• Experience working with outside vendors.
• Familiarity with FAA regulations for obtaining intellectual property preferred.
• Knowledge of 3D modeling packages such as Solidworks and AutoCAD.
• Experience working with a DER is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create intellectual property (PMA’s) via the design and development of aerospace parts, assemblies, and products.
• Create drawings and 3D models of components utilizing SolidWorks for new product development and reverse engineering.
• Write technical documents, substantiation packages, and FAA reports.
• Project manage multiple PMA projects through all phases to meet timelines.
• Develop and document product and process specifications for new designs.
• Interface with engineering, manufacturing & quality teams and outside vendors to complete deliverables.
