Job summary

Cowboy Space Corp. is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to design and implement motor control and embedded control systems for vehicle fluid subsystems.

You will work across propulsion, pressurization, and thermal management, delivering flight-ready controls from concept through integration and operations. You will develop firmware and real-time software, perform system modeling and simulations, and coordinate with fluid systems, propulsion, avionics, and software teams to ensure robust

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering field related to controls or mechatronics.
• 3+ years of controls/automation experience for hardware systems.
• Experience with motor control and feedback systems.
• Proficiency in embedded programming for real-time control.
• Experience with automated sequences or state machines.
• Hands-on integration of sensors, actuators, and control electronics.

Responsibilities

• Design motor control systems for valves and pumps with drive electronics and feedback.
• Create automated sequences for fuel, vent, and conditioning operations.
• Develop closed-loop control for propulsion and thermal subsystems.
• Select and integrate actuators, sensors, and instrumentation.
• Define hardware requirements or work with electrical engineering partners.
• Develop embedded firmware and real-time control software.
• Perform system modeling and simulations to validate control strategies.
• Lead hardware-in-the-loop and system test campaigns.
• Develop fault detection, isolation, and recovery logic for fluid automation.
• Collaborate with fluid, propulsion, avionics, and software teams.
