Job summary

Inversion seeks a Senior Aerodynamics Engineer to build and manage aerodynamic databases spanning the full flight envelope. The role integrates high-fidelity CFD data with lower-order methods to drive 3-DOF and 6-DOF simulations for rapid design iteration.

You will work with wind tunnel and flight-test data to refine models, support GNC and mission design, and advance automation of database delivery at our Playa Vista, CA office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Aerospace or Mechanical Eng; relevant experience.
• 5+ years in aerodynamic analysis of aerospace vehicles.
• Experience with high-fidelity CFD (FUN3D, OVERFLOW, CART3D, US3D, Kestrel).
• Experience with panel codes and Newtonian aerodynamics.
• Experience with data aggregation into a database for simulations.
• Strong fundamentals in compressible aerodynamics; stability.
• Proficient in Python, MATLAB, C++, or Fortran for tooling.
• On-site in Playa Vista, CA; ability to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain aerodynamic force and moment databases spanning the full flight envelope.
• Predict aerodynamic forces and moments across flight envelopes using high-fidelity CFD tools.
• Apply lower-order methods to populate the broader envelope.
• Aggregate data of varying fidelity into database products for simulations and design.
• Support downstream users in applying the databases in GNC, simulation, and mission design.
• Build tooling and automation for database generation and delivery.
• Refine models using wind tunnel and flight-test data.
