Job summary

The World Bank Group seeks a Senior Adviser to the Executive Director to provide strategic advisory support within the Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage. This international role is based in Washington, DC, with a two-year term and a focus on governance, resource mobilization, and external engagement.

Candidates should have an advanced degree and 8+ years of senior advisory experience in complex multilateral settings, fluency in English, and strong written/oral communication skills.

Qualifications

• Advanced university degree in public policy, economics, finance, climate change, international development, environmental studies or a related field.
• At least 8 years of progressively responsible experience in climate finance, development finance, international institutions or governance.
• Experience advising senior executives, governing bodies, governments or comparable organizations on complex strategic matters.
• Strong understanding of international climate finance architecture and UNFCCC/Paris processes.
• Excellent judgment, diplomacy, discretion and political awareness.
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic advisory support to the Executive Director and Secretariat.
• Support governance, strategy development and external relations activities.
• Assist with resource mobilization, partnerships and organizational development.
• Collaborate across Secretariat functions to ensure coherent and timely advice.
