Job summary

World Bank Group seeks a Senior Economist to lead fiduciary and financial matters across the FRLD pipeline. You will develop policies, methodologies, and instruments to support loss and damage responses, while advising leadership on economic and financial strategies.

You will collaborate with the PACE division and broader Secretariat, guiding analytic work and ensuring rigorous, evidence-based decision making across multi-country programs.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in economics/finance with focus on climate finance preferred.
• 8+ years in development finance or international financial institutions.
• Experience drafting technical/operational papers with rigor.

Responsibilities

• Lead fiduciary review of funding requests and related documents.
• Develop fiduciary review, monitoring, and reporting methodologies.
• Quality assure fiduciary/risk sections in Secretariat reports.
• Oversee budget support access processes and external reviews.
• Develop/implement new financial instruments and debt sustainability approaches.
• Act as focal point for operational risk within the pipeline/portfolio.
• Represent the team in leadership meetings and coordinate across leads.
• Develop grants and other funding modalities in policy; ensure alignment.
