Job summary

Jobtailor in Torrance, CA seeks an experienced engineer to develop and refine ECS performance models for complex air and vapor cycle systems, validating steady-state requirements and optimizing runtime performance.

You will conduct thermodynamic, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics analyses to optimize system performance, define KPIs, and coordinate cross-functional work while supporting system integration testing across facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (engineering, physical sciences, or mathematics).
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical, chemical, or related engineering fields with emphasis on thermal management modeling.
• Strong knowledge of system design principles, integration, and testing methodologies.
• Proficiency with systems modeling tools: NPSS, SysML, MATLAB.
• Experience in physics-based AI/ML model development.
• Experience in advanced thermal management and vapor cycle systems design.
• Experience in mechanical engineering thermal simulations, system modeling and analysis, and system integration testing.
• Familiarity with regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.

• Conduct thermodynamic, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics analyses to optimize system performance
• Define system- and equipment-level key performance parameters and generate and validate associated requirements
• Create and maintain system-level steady-state models, including runtime performance optimization, validation against component and system test data, and model documentation
• Coordinate system modeling and development processes and handoffs between internal and external stakeholders
• Communicate with chief engineering and technical management
• Support system integration testing, including facility architecture and requirements, test model definition, characterization test plans and procedures, test execution, data processing and review, and model calibration

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical, chemical, or related engineering fields, with emphasis on thermal management system modeling and analysis
