Honeywell is seeking a Senior Advanced Project Engineer to lead end-to-end development and launch of complex hardware, firmware, software, and mechanical projects for the FIRE portfolio within Building Automation. You will guide global cross-functional teams and apply advanced PM skills to deliver safe, reliable, and efficient solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (sciences, technology or engineering).
• 5+ years of program or project management experience leading complex engineering projects.
• 3+ years in product development with hardware/software integrated products and global teams.
• Strong knowledge of engineering product development principles and PM methodologies.
• Proficiency with MS Project to create and maintain complex schedules and updates.

Responsibilities

• Lead 3-4 concurrent global new product introduction programs across hardware, firmware, and software development.
• Develop and maintain release roadmaps, schedules, and budgets using MS Project or Smart Sheets.
• Direct cross-functional engineering and operations teams (10-15+ members across sites) to ensure timely execution.
• Define program scope and manage change control with stakeholders on contracts and scope variations.
• Drive commercialization to meet revenue, cost, and business objectives while balancing feasibility.
• Identify and mitigate risks, while capitalizing on opportunities to improve outcomes.

Job description

As a Senior Advanced Project Engineer here at Honeywell, you will lead end-to-end development and launch of complex engineering projects that combine hardware, Firmware, Software, and mechanical Engineering for FIRE portfolio within Building Automation Strategic Business Group. In this role, you’ll apply your advanced Project Management skills to lead global cross-functional teams, manage project scope and execution, and deliver innovative solutions that improve safety, reliability, and efficiency for our customers.

You will report directly to our Engineering Program Management Director, and you’ll work out of our Atlanta, GA or Northford, CT location on a Hybrid work schedule.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead 3-4 concurrent global new product introduction programs, overseeing integrated hardware, Firmware, and/or software, and/or mechanical product development using Agile methodology.

• Develop and maintain project release roadmaps, schedules, and budgets using MS Project or smart sheets, ensuring delivery within defined scope, cost, and time targets.

• Direct multi-disciplinary cross-functional engineering and operations teams (10-15+ team members across multiple sites), ensuring alignment, accountability, and timely execution.

• Define program scope and manage change control, including negotiations with stakeholders on program contracts and scope variations.

• Drive commercialization success, ensuring products target revenue, cost, and business objectives while balancing technical feasibility.

• Identify and mitigate risks proactively, while capitalizing on opportunities to improve program outcomes.

• Work along with Integrated supply chain teams and manufacturing, ensuring readiness for production and successful design transfer into factory processes.

• Report program status to senior leadership, providing clear updates on milestones, risks, and financial performance.

• Ensure compliance with Honeywell's product development process and tools and continuous improvement practices, applying structured problem-solving to strengthen program results.

• Collaborate with commercial teams and, when required, engage directly with customers to align technical execution with business needs.

YOU MUST HAVE

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, & engineering.

• 5+ years of program or project management experience managing complex engineering projects and leading cross-functional teams.

• 3+ years of experience in Product development experience with hardware/software integrated products and global development teams.

• Strong knowledge of engineering product development principles and project management methodologies.

• Proficiency with MS Project tool, including ability to create and maintain complex schedules, Project Plans and Project updates.

WE VALUE

• PMP Certification.

• 5+ years of experience in product development or project management experience with hardware/software integrated products and global development teams.

• Six Sigma Greenbelt certification.

• Ability to communicate and work effectively with internal and external customers at all organizational levels

• Ability to effectively lead, manage, and energize cross-functional teams across multiple sites

• Ability to quickly assess unclear, complex, and ambiguous situations and reduce into distinct, clear, timely, and stable direction for the development team

• Ability to negotiate skillfully in tough situations with both internal and external stakeholders.
