Job summary

Discord seeks a seasoned Data Engineer focusing on our advertising product data. You will define and own ads data models, build ML data for ranking and targeting, and implement conversion measurement pipelines with third-party integrations.

The role requires designing batch and near real-time pipelines on a BigQuery + dbt + Dagster stack, and mentoring teammates across Data Science, ML Engineering, and Product.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience writing production code and architecting data pipelines with high-volume consumer data in advertising technology domains.
• Deep expertise in digital advertising data engineering, including ads delivery, conversion measurement, attribution pipelines, or ML data infra.
• Demonstrated experience building data models in greenfield environments with evolving requirements.
• Expert-level SQL and Python; production-quality pipeline code.
• Experience with data quality audits, monitoring, and anomaly detection for massive datasets.
• Strong technical communication skills to drive alignment with stakeholders.
• Collaborative mindset with Data Science, ML Engineering, and Product teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and own core ads data models (fact/dim tables, canonical datasets, aggregations) for delivery, measurement, targeting, attribution, and ML.
• Build and maintain ML data enabling ads ranking, delivery, and targeting with feature development and observability.
• Create conversion measurement pipelines and integrate third-party attribution data (MMPs) for data parity.
• Develop batch and near real-time pipeline infrastructure across the ads ecosystem for low latency.
• Develop data quality frameworks, monitoring systems, anomalies detection, and SLA infra.
• Identify foundational data infrastructure gaps and design scalable canonical solutions.
• Build systems from scratch in a greenfield advertising data environment with sound architecture.
• Drive alignment across Data Science, ML Engineering, Ads Product, and GTM with clear narratives.
• Mentor engineers through technical challenges, reviews, and ownership of complex projects.
