Job Description Summary

The Senior Admissions Advisor is a key member of the Enrollment department at Texas State Technical College (TSTC), contributing to the mission of placing Texans into high-paying jobs. This role involves overseeing internal and external activities to attract applicants and support them through the admissions process. You will provide direct support to applicants, mentor and train front-line staff, and collaborate with internal departments to create a seamless enrollment experience. Reporting directly to an Associate Manager of Admissions, the position requires interpersonal skills, regulatory knowledge, and technological proficiency, along with mentoring responsibilities to enhance overall applicant success.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  1. Core Values Demonstration: Embody TSTC Core Values (Excellence, Accountability, Service, and Integrity) in all interactions.
  2. Advisory Role: Assist prospective and new applicants with program selection, guide them through the admissions process, and aid in financing options, including FAFSA completion.
  3. Student Enrollment Growth: Manage a caseload of applicants, providing personalized advisement and troubleshooting their needs.
  4. Training and Mentoring: Train front-line staff to ensure high performance and effectiveness.
  5. Cross-Department Collaboration: Work with departments like Veteran Services, Financial Aid, Registrar, and Student Services to support applicants and coordinate campus tours.
  6. Compliance and Record Management: Stay updated on FAFSA, FERPA, and record management practices.
  7. Community Engagement: Attend community events, including high schools, to promote TSTC and provide program information.
  8. Technology Utilization: Use software to track outreach, maintain records, and generate reports.
  9. Administrative Duties: Perform general admissions tasks, including document collection and review, and undertake other duties as assigned.

Travel Requirements
  • Travel during working hours up to 25% of the time.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Availability on nights and weekends may be needed.
Competencies
  • Customer service, time management, problem-solving, teamwork, cultural competence, and leadership skills.
Education & Experience
  • Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's preferred. Exceptional experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • At least 3 years in customer service, sales, or higher education, with experience in admissions or related fields preferred.
  • Experience as an enrollment coach is a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged sitting and working on a computer.
  • Occasional lifting up to 15 lbs.
