Job summary

GXO Logistics, Inc. is seeking a Power BI & Microsoft Fabric Platform Administrator to oversee a secure, scalable analytics platform. You will administer, secure, and optimize Power BI and Fabric environments, collaborate with Data Engineering and Security, and implement governance across the analytics stack.

The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, CI/CD, and platform reliability to empower data-driven decisions for a global enterprise.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, Analytics, and Reporting with Microsoft technologies.
  • 5+ years administering enterprise-scale Power BI environments including gateway management and security.
  • 3+ years experience with Microsoft Fabric workloads (OneLake, Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Data Factory, Fabric Capacity Management).
  • Experience with managing Power BI Premium capacities and performance optimization.
  • Strong governance and security controls including RLS and Azure AD integration.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and support enterprise Power BI including tenant administration, workspace governance, report deployment, and security administration.
  • Administer and support Microsoft Fabric workloads (OneLake, Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Data Factory, Real-Time Analytics).
  • Monitor and optimize Power BI Premium and Fabric capacities; plan capacity and resolve throttling issues.
  • Implement enterprise governance standards for workspaces, deployment pipelines, and tenant settings.
  • Maintain Power BI security controls and data access governance; manage On-Premises Data Gateways for high availability.
  • Support SQL Server environments including maintenance, backup, recovery, and high-availability solutions.
  • Develop CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Git, and PowerShell automation; enhance operational efficiency.
  • Monitor platform health, perform root cause analysis, and resolve incidents impacting reporting and analytics.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering, Infrastructure, and Security; ensure scalable, secure analytics platform.
  • Document standards, procedures, governance policies, and best practices.

Power BI & Microsoft Fabric Platform Administrator

What You'll Do On a Typical Day


  • Administer and support the enterprise Microsoft Power BI environment, including tenant administration, workspace governance, report deployment, security administration, and platform configuration.

  • Administer and support Microsoft Fabric workloads, including OneLake, Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Data Factory, Real-Time Analytics, and Fabric Capacity Management.

  • Manage and optimize Power BI Premium and Microsoft Fabric capacities by monitoring utilization, workload performance, capacity planning, scaling, and resolving throttling issues.

  • Implement and maintain enterprise governance standards, including workspace lifecycle management, naming standards, content certification, deployment pipelines, and tenant settings.

  • Administer Power BI security, including Row-Level Security (RLS), Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) integration, workspace permissions, external sharing, and data access governance.

  • Install, configure, upgrade, troubleshoot, and maintain On-Premises Data Gateways while ensuring high availability and disaster recovery capabilities.

  • Support SQL Server environments, including database administration, backup and recovery, security, replication, log shipping, performance tuning, and high-availability solutions.

  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Git integration, deployment pipelines, and PowerShell automation to improve operational efficiency and platform reliability.

  • Monitor platform health, proactively identify performance issues, perform root cause analysis, and resolve incidents impacting reporting and analytics services.

  • Support Production, Pre-Production, Test, and Development environments through release management, deployments, environment refreshes, and operational support.

  • Partner with Information Security to implement governance, compliance, auditing, data protection, and secure access controls across the analytics platform.

  • Collaborate with Data Engineering teams to support enterprise data models, semantic models, Fabric workloads, and reporting solutions.

  • Develop automation solutions using PowerShell and Microsoft platform APIs to reduce manual administration and improve operational efficiency.

  • Implement platform monitoring, alerting, capacity reporting, usage analytics, and operational dashboards to ensure service reliability.

  • Document platform standards, operational procedures, governance policies, and administration best practices.

  • Serve as a senior platform administrator by troubleshooting complex technical issues, mentoring team members, reviewing platform configurations, and promoting operational excellence across the organization.


What You Need To Succeed

At a minimum, you'll need


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience.

  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, Analytics, and Reporting platforms with a focus on Microsoft technologies.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience administering enterprise-scale Power BI environments, including tenant administration, workspace governance, report deployment, gateway management, and security administration.

  • 3+ years of experience supporting and administering Microsoft Fabric workloads, including OneLake, Data Warehouse, Lakehouse, Data Factory, and Fabric Capacity Management.

  • Experience managing Power BI Premium and Microsoft Fabric Capacities, including capacity planning, performance optimization, workload management, and resolution of throttling issues.

  • Strong experience implementing Power BI security controls, including Row-Level Security (RLS), workspace permissions, external sharing, and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) integration.

  • Hands-on experience administering On-Premises Data Gateways, including installation, upgrades, migrations, troubleshooting, high availability, and disaster recovery.

  • Extensive experience with SQL Server Administration, including database maintenance, security administration, backup and recovery, replication, log shipping, and high-availability solutions.

  • Experience supporting Production, Pre-Production, Test, and Development environments, including deployments, refreshes, release management, and operational support.

  • Strong experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Git integration, PowerShell automation, and analytics platform monitoring.

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex platform issues, perform root cause analysis, and support business-critical reporting and analytics solutions in a large enterprise environment.

  • Experience collaborating with Data Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and governed analytics platforms.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience documenting technical standards, operational procedures, governance policies, and platform administration best practices.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced enterprise environment.

  • Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600).

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300).

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104).

  • Experience implementing enterprise governance frameworks across Microsoft Fabric and Power BI.

  • Experience administering large-scale Microsoft Fabric capacities supporting enterprise analytics workloads.

  • Experience developing Infrastructure as Code (IaC), scripting, or automation solutions using PowerShell, Azure Automation, or related technologies.

  • Experience implementing enterprise monitoring, observability, alerting, and operational dashboards for analytics platforms.

  • Experience supporting disaster recovery, business continuity, and high-availability architectures for enterprise analytics environments.

  • Experience with Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps, Microsoft Sentinel, or other Microsoft governance and security solutions.

  • Experience supporting enterprise data governance, data cataloging, metadata management, and compliance initiatives.

  • Demonstrated success collaborating across Data Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, and Analytics organizations while contributing to shared platform standards, governance, and operational best practices.
