Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a finance and operations leader to support the Deputy Provost’s portfolio. You will develop annual operating budgets, multi-year financial plans, and recurring forecasts, and analyze financial performance, trends, and risks to inform recommendations.

You will oversee financial administration, internal controls, contracts, MOUs, and business arrangements; review grant proposal budgets; and serve as HR liaison for workforce planning, performance management, and talent

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education is necessary.
  • At least 5 years of directly comparable experience is necessary.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in a highly collaborative setting.
  • Problem-solving and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professionalism, maturity, and prudent handling of confidential and highly sensitive information.
  • Expert Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
  • Master’s degree in Accounting or Business preferred.
  • Experience in a library or multi-location operation preferred.
  • Experience with Oracle or similar ERP systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with Vanderbilt policies and procedures preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support financial planning, resource allocation, and fiscal stewardship across the Deputy Provost’s portfolio.
  • Develop annual operating budgets, multi-year financial plans, and recurring forecasts.
  • Analyze financial performance, trends, and risks and provide recommendations.
  • Oversee financial administration, internal controls, contracts, service agreements, MOUs, and business arrangements.
  • Review grant proposal budgets and sponsored projects.
  • Serve as the human resources liaison for workforce planning, talent acquisition, succession planning, employee engagement, retention, and workforce development.
  • Advise managers on employee relations, performance management, organizational change, policy interpretation, and employment practices.
  • Provide administrative leadership and operational oversight across portfolio units.
  • Develop and evaluate administrative policies, procedures, and business practices.
  • Coordinate compliance, audit, accreditation, assessment, reporting, and risk management activities.
  • Lead special projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Supervise two exempt staff members.
  • Report administratively to the Chief Business Officer of the Libraries.
