Job summary

The State of Michigan is seeking an Administrative Law Examiner to preside over complex and non-complex hearings within MOAHR, applying findings of fact and legal interpretations with independence and substantial impact on programs.

This role requires a Juris Doctorate, 3 years of professional legal experience including one year at the Advanced level P15, and membership in good standing with the Michigan State Bar.

Qualifications

• Possession of a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited school of law.
• Three years of professional experience in legal work, including one year equivalent to an Administrative Law Examiner P15 or Administrative Law Specialist P15.
• Membership in good standing in the Michigan State Bar is required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior level adjudicator with jurisdiction over an assigned caseload within MOAHR.
• Preside over complex and non-complex administrative hearings and render decisions based on findings of fact and legal interpretations.
• Coordinate with other state and federal agencies and local governments as needed, with cases potentially involving significant financial impacts and media or legislative interest.
