Job summary

RTX is seeking an experienced individual in Additive Manufacturing to develop advanced process parameters and lead projects to advance industrialization. This role requires a University Engineering Degree and extensive experience with AM tools.

The successful candidate will work onsite in East Hartford and will need a valid U.S. government issued security clearance. A competitive salary ranging from $86,800 to $165,200 USD is offered with comprehensive benefits.

The Additive Manufacturing Process and Capability Center (AMPCC) encompasses a critical mass of Additive Manufacturing (AM) process and industrialization experts, the necessary equipment, and develops the strategic collaborations needed to rapidly mature the technology and manufacturing readiness of AM. The AMPCC is focused on the research, development, and deployment of additive manufacturing tools and processes for our business units.

What You Will Do
  • Develop advanced process parameters to enable complex geometries with enhanced material properties.
  • Investigate sources of machine variability and develop methods to eliminate observed variability.
  • Execute and oversee development builds on various Additive Manufacturing machines.
  • Collaborate with internal and external groups to develop whitepapers, project concepts, and responsive proposals.
  • Explore the capabilities of advanced tools and equipment to characterize machines and process space.
  • Develop machine installation, machine operation, and part qualification processes and standards.
  • Work with RTX Business Units to understand and address their needs.
  • Lead projects to advance the industrialization of AM at RTX.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a University Engineering Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or an advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience.
  • Experience with Additive Manufacturing tools and processes.
  • Scripting experience with Matlab, Python, VBA, JavaScript or similar.
  • Hands‑on experience with metal laser powder‑bed‑fusion AM equipment.
  • Basic understanding of low‑voltage sensors and control systems.
Qualifications We Prefer

Preferred candidates for this position will have a PhD in Mechanical, Chemical, Manufacturing Engineering or related technical field. A minimum 3.5 GPA is desirable.

This role is classified as Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

If you live within a reasonable commute of an RTX site with other colleagues you interact with, your manager will discuss whether there is a degree of onsite presence associated with this role.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD.
