Job summary

The Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) in New York State seeks an Addiction Counselor 2 to supervise a case management team and deliver clinical services. You will provide supervision, participate in clinical leadership, handle crisis interventions, and ensure compliant documentation and discharge planning within a 24/7 setting.

Qualified candidates hold CASAC-Advanced or CASAC-Master Counselor certification in NYS with at least one year of post-registration experience, and must

Qualifications

• Promotion: current registration as a CASAC-Advanced Counselor or CASAC-Master Counselor in New York State and one year of service as an Addictions Counselor 1.
• Open Competitive: current registration as a CASAC-Advanced Counselor or CASAC-Master Counselor in New York State and one year of post-registration addictions counseling experience in a certified or licensed program.
• Must be eligible for Medicaid/Medicare participation and maintain certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical services to clients and may carry a caseload as a primary counselor.
• Provide clinical and administrative supervision to subordinate staff; may act as shift supervisor.
• Participate in clinical leadership and committees; engage in crisis intervention when needed.
• Facilitate individual and group therapy and related tasks to support quality client care.
• Monitor clinical record-keeping to ensure compliance with OASAS procedures and confidentiality regulations.
• Complete required client and facility documentation in electronic and paper formats.
• Serve as a senior member of a multidisciplinary team with independence and limited supervision.
• Coordinate shift coverage and act as point person during shifts.
• Perform admissions and discharge coordination as necessary.
