Job summary

The Addictions Counselor 1 at the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) works as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team under supervision to provide care and counseling to clients. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, delivering brief therapy, and coordinating comprehensive care.

Qualified applicants are CASAC registered in NYS or eligible for transfer, with duties spanning crisis intervention, group sessions, and documentation adherence.

Qualifications

• Current CASAC registration in New York State as required.
• Eligible for NY HELPS program or equivalent transfer.
• Registration must meet minimum qualifications for the title.

Responsibilities

• Serve as clinical member of multidisciplinary team.
• Primary counselor managing all facets of clinical services for assigned patients.
• Provide individual and group brief therapy utilizing EBPs.
• Work with co-occurring mental health, gambling disorders and CJ mandated patients.
• Lead in interviewing patients and completing psycho-social assessments.
• Maintain patient records, discharge planning and confidentiality regulations.
• Participate in activities to improve patient care and facility operations.
