Job summary

ZF Group, located in the United States, seeks a Senior ADAS Application Engineer to lead the application release for ADAS systems in the commercial vehicle market. The role connects customer programs, systems engineering, validation, and field performance to ensure safety and regulatory compliance across operating domains.

You will elicit requirements, map specifications, propose product matches, resolve deviations, design layouts, and prepare complete technical documentation for customer

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Electrical/Mechanical/Software/Robotics or similar.
• 5+ years in ADAS, active safety, or commercial vehicle electronics.
• Strong knowledge of automotive product engineering, preferably for commercial vehicles.
• Familiarity with CAN/CAN-FD/Ethernet vehicle networks.
• Understanding of functional safety and cybersecurity concepts.
• Experience with sensor calibration and vehicle dynamics effects on ADAS.

Responsibilities

• Elicit and map customer requirements to specifications.
• Collect and analyze technical customer requirements and documents.
• Compare requirements with ZF specs and map deviations.
• Propose product matching customer needs and resolve deviations with product team.
• Create change requests for deviations with breakdown of requirements.
• Select/design/estimate product layout for customer application.
• Prepare product documentation (drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams).
• Configure product per customer needs (parameter settings).

Job description

The Senior ADAS Application Engineer is responsible for the application release of the ZF Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and components for the commercial vehicle market (Class 6-8 trucks, buses, and specialty vehicles). This role bridges customer programs, systems engineering, validation, and field performance—ensuring ADAS features meet safety, regulatory, and customer requirements across diverse operating domains.

• Requirements elicitation and specification mapping
• Collect technical customer requirements, specifications, and associated documents.
• Compare customer requirements and specifications with ZF specifications, identify mapping specifications and deviations.
• Provide proposals for ZF product matching customer requirements, resolve deviations in consultation with product group engineer
• and customer, accomplish acceptance of deviations.
• Create change request for non-acceptable deviations including breakdown of customer requirements.
• Select / design / calculate product layout for customer application.

Your profile as Senior ADAS Application Engineer:

• BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software/Computer Engineering, Robotics, or similar (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years’ experience in ADAS, active safety, and/or commercial vehicle electronics (functional development, applications, testing,
• integration, or systems).
• Technical knowledge of Product Engineering in the automotive industry, preferably commercial vehicle market with experience in but
• not limited to ADAS
• Good understanding of vehicle communication networks (CAN/CAN-FD/Ethernet).
• Functional safety and Cybersecurity concepts.
• Experience with sensor calibration (intrinsic/extrinsic camera calibration; radar alignment; target-based calibration).
• Experience with vehicle dynamics impacts on ADAS performance (grade, trailer articulation, yaw rate, wheel slip).
• Experience with automotive tools (Data Loggers, Vector: CANalyzer, CANoe, CANape/CANdela/PEAK/etc....).
• Familiarity with requirements management, test case creation, and issue resolution tools (DOORS/Integrity) preferred.
