Job summary

Pacific Life is seeking a Senior Actuary - Prophet Modeler to join our Enterprise Modeling Team in a role focused on Prophet model development for life products and business cases. You will collaborate with Pricing, Valuation, ALM, Hedging and IT to deliver innovative modeling capabilities.

The position requires this candidate to lead development initiatives, mentor junior staff, and ensure compliance with Model Risk Management standards in a dynamic, office-based setting with relocation support

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in actuarial science, computer science, finance, mathematics or related field.
• 4+ years’ actuarial experience
• 6+ years’ experience in actuarial modeling and coding
• FSA Designation
• Excited to work with Prophet in pricing, valuation and ALM modeling
• Self-starter capable of independent and collaborative work
• Strong communication and organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Work on model development for new and existing life products.
• Develop, test, and debug Prophet models; peer review changes.

We’re actively seeking a talented Senior Actuary - Prophet Modeler to join our Enterprise Modeling Team.

This role is on-site 4 days per week and work from home 1 day per week in Newport Beach, CA, Omaha, NE, or Charlotte, NC. If you are not currently located near one of our offices, we offer comprehensive relocation assistance. As a Prophet Modeler, you’ll move Pacific Life, and your career, forward by leading Prophet model development for all Pacific Life’s products and business cases. You will collaborate with Pricing, Valuation, ALM, Hedging and IT infrastructure teams to provide innovative modeling and reporting capabilities. You will fill an existing role that sits on a team of fourteen people in the Enterprise Modeling division. Your colleagues will include software and data engineers, data scientists and fellow actuarial professionals.

How you will make an impact:

• Work in a modeling role focused on model development for new and existing life products
• Perform model development and testing/debugging of Prophet models, peer review changes made by other team members and act as an internal Prophet expert for your colleagues
• Proactively evaluate and recommend modeling strategies and potential approaches to find solutions that best address business needs
• Lead model development initiatives that improve and expand existing models
• Partner with IT and functional areas to develop simple, effective, and innovative solutions to simplify modeling processes
• Provide guidance and expertise to junior staff on methodology, model implementation, and testing/debugging to support modeling initiatives
• Support and comply with all Model Risk Management initiatives and Model Steward documentation and standards.

The experience you will bring:

• Bachelor’s in actuarial science, computer science, finance, mathematics or related field
• 4+ years’ actuarial experience
• 6+ years’ experience in actuarial modeling and coding
• FSA Designation
• Excited to work in a role that involves heavy use of Prophet in context of pricing, valuation and ALM modeling
• Self-starter with ability to develop solutions by collaborating with multiple business partners
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, and to manage long-term projects
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

• Base salary ranges (location specific): Newport Beach, CA: $167,670 - 204,236 Omaha, NE: $144,810 - $176,990 Charlotte, NC: $152,370 - 186,230

Base Pay Range: The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay. $167,670.00 - $204,930.00
