Job summary

Questpro Consultants LLC is seeking a Senior Actuarial Analyst for its commercial pricing team. You will build and enhance actuarial tools and analyses, support rate indications, and monitor rating plans to aid underwriters and leadership.

You will use Excel, SQL and Python to analyze data, collaborate across underwriting, IT and analytics, and contribute to financial planning and pricing decisions for renewal cycles.

Qualifications

• 4 CAS actuarial exams completed; Exam 5 or ACAS preferred.
• 3+ years of P&C experience with a U.S. commercial insurer.
• Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, economics, risk mgmt, or related field.
• General Liability and/or Excess & Surplus lines experience preferred.
• Strong technical skills with Excel, SQL and Python; able to code without AI.

Responsibilities

Our client, a privately held, mission-driven commercial property and casualty insurer is hiring a Senior Actuarial Analyst for its commercial pricing team. The company has a long record of disciplined underwriting and long-term thinking.

The role reports to the Chief Pricing Actuary and supports the company’s binding authority and brokerage business. You’ll build and improve the analyses, processes and models behind rating structures, pricing insights and portfolio rate monitoring, and you’ll work with Underwriting, IT and Data/Analytics to turn pricing work into recommendations underwriters can act on.

What You’ll Do

• Build and improve actuarial and underwriting tools, processes and analyses
• Support regular rate indications to assess profitability and inform business unit financial goals
• Maintain and update complex rating plans
• Work with Underwriting and IT to put rating logic and pricing structures into the policy administration system
• Track renewal rate changes and report against overall rate targets
• Help the Data/Analytics team deliver key insights to underwriters and leadership
• Review reinsurance submission data and help assess reinsurance pricing
• Contribute to the annual corporate financial planning process
• Use Excel, SQL and Python to analyze data, streamline workflows and improve data quality

What We’re Looking For

• 4 CAS actuarial exams, required. CAS Exam 5 or ACAS preferred.
• 3+ years of P&C insurance experience, ideally with a U.S. commercial insurer, in actuarial, underwriting, risk management, product management or claims
• Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, economics, risk management, insurance or a related field
• General Liability and/or Excess & Surplus lines experience, preferred
• Strong technical and data skills, including the ability to code on your own without AI assistance
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated and comfortable working across teams
