Job summary

Elderwood is seeking an Activity Leader to coordinate engaging recreational programs for residents. You will collaborate with staff to plan and execute activities that energize and mentally stimulate residents on a daily basis.

The role requires strong interpersonal skills, ability to motivate others, and a valid driver’s license with a clean record. Applicants must be 18+, possess a HS diploma, and read and write in English proficiently.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years old and HS diploma or equivalent.
• Valid New York Driver's License and clean driving record.
• Ability to build relationships with staff, families and residents.
• Ability to inspire, motivate others and adapt activities to residents' needs.
• Understanding of residents' rights and needs.
• Physical stamina for constant activity.
• English reading/writing/speaking proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and carrying out the activity program with the Director of Activities.
• Approach residents on assigned unit to plan individual recreational and social activities; report responses to Director of Activities.
• Prepare resident information and progress notes for care planning and documentation.
• Develop and maintain contacts with community resources for activities program improvement.
• Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies for the department.
• Keep attendance records and prepare reports as required.
