Job summary

SLR Consulting is seeking a Principal Acoustics Consultant to lead complex acoustics and noise projects across environmental, architectural, industrial, transportation, marine, and underwater disciplines. You will serve as a senior technical resource, mentor junior staff, and cultivate client relationships.

You will manage proposals, scopes, budgets, and deliverables, collaborate with architects, engineers, regulators, and other stakeholders, and contribute to business development and the growth

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in acoustics, engineering, physics, mathematics, architecture, environmental science, or a related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of professional experience in acoustics, noise, vibration, or a closely related technical discipline.
• Demonstrated technical expertise in one or more areas of acoustics.
• Experience leading complex projects and managing project deliverables, budgets, schedules, and client expectations.
• Demonstrated experience working directly with clients and other project stakeholders.
• Experience developing proposals, scopes of work, and/or supporting business development.
• Strong technical writing, communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with acoustic modeling, analysis, measurement, or other relevant technical software.
• Experience mentoring or providing technical leadership to other professionals.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and provide technical oversight on complex acoustics and noise projects across one or more areas of specialization.
• Serve as a technical subject-matter expert and provide guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level acoustics professionals.
• Manage complex projects from proposal through completion, including scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client communication.
• Develop technical approaches, methodologies, reports, assessments, specifications, drawings, and other project deliverables.
• Conduct and/or oversee acoustic modeling, noise assessments, field measurements, data analysis, and technical evaluations.
• Work collaboratively with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, regulators, and other stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships and act as a trusted technical advisor.
• Identify opportunities with existing and prospective clients and contribute to business development.
• Prepare proposals, scopes of work, fee estimates, and presentations.
• Represent SLR at client meetings, industry events, conferences, and technical forums.
