Job summary

Justice Federal Credit Union in Chantilly, VA seeks a Senior Accounting Operations Specialist to oversee wire transfers and daily accounting activities. You will coordinate with Finance, Internal Audit, and external partners to maintain strong controls and accurate financial records.

The role requires 3–5 years of relevant experience, a two-year degree or equivalent training, and preferred Certification in Risk Management or Compliance.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of similar or related experience.
• Two-year college degree or completion of specialized certification or vendor training.
• Professional certification in Risk Management or Compliance preferred.
• Must be able to push, pull, or lift up to 50 lbs. and capable of long periods of sitting/standing.

Responsibilities

• Oversee incoming and outgoing domestic and international wire transfers with approvals and discrepancy resolution.
• Process monthly ACH functions including tax withholding entries, death notifications, reclamation notices and dispute resolution with proper coding and documentation.
• Balance the Federal Reserve General Ledger daily and support daily payment settlement activities.
• Process LexisNexis and Asset Verification items.

Salary Range: $64,488.32 To $80,610.40 Annually

We are seeking experienced, detail‑drivenprofessional to oversee complex accounting activities, ensuring the accuracy of financial records to join our team as the Senior Accounting Operations Specialist.

This role is responsible for the day-to-day management of wire transfers operations and acting as a vital link between Accounting Operations, Financial Services (Finance), Internal Audit, and external financial partners, helping to maintain strong internal controls while supporting critical financial decisions that contribute to the organization's success.

Key Job Functions:

• Responsible for incoming and outgoing domestic and international wire transfers, ensuring accuracy, proper approvals, timely release and resolution of discrepancies
• Processes monthly ACH functions including tax withholding entries, death notifications, reclamation notices and resolution of unauthorized ACH transactions while coordinating with internal departments to ensure proper ACH coding, documentation, and timely resolution of payment disputes
• Balances the Federal Reserve General Ledger (GL) daily and support daily payment settlement activities
• Processes LexisNexis and Asset Verification items

Required Skills and Experience:

• Three to five years of similar or related experience.
  • Progressive accounting operations experience, including direct exposure to credit union operations, financial services or treasury is strongly preferred.
• A two-year college degree, or completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors.
  • Experience as a substitution for a degree may be considered.
• A professional certification in Risk Management or Compliance is preferred.
• Must be able to push, pull, or lift up to 50 lbs., as needed, and requires extended periods of sitting and/or standing and to be able to use PC, copier, scanner, fax, etc.
