PROENERGY is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager - Operations to lead the close processes and oversee manufacturing, inventory and project costing. You will drive financial control, analytics and reporting across aerospace lifecycle services.

Based in Sedalia, MO or Houston, TX, this role partners with project managers and senior leadership to improve cost control, ERP processes and internal controls, while ensuring GAAP compliance and timely financial close.

Qualifications

Position Summary

The Senior Accounting Manager is a key member of the accounting team. Ensure company accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles. Has knowledge of commonly used accounting concepts, practices and procedures within energy, services, manufacturing and construction industries. Primary responsibilities include supervision of the monthly, quarterly and annual close and review/reconciliation/reporting processes primarily related to manufacturing, inventory accounting, and project costing, including ensuring that all inventory movements are tracked and processed in a timely manner to meet operational deadlines.

The Senior Accounting Manager will also be well versed in financial analysis, budgeting, audit support, and management reporting to be successful in this position. This individual should have strong interpersonal, presentation and analytical skills.

As Senior Accounting Manager, your primary responsibility will be to manage, report, and maintain financial control of project costs in accordance with company policies and customer requirements. Primary responsibilities also include preparation of account reconciliations, inventory and cost management, journal entries and financial analysis for the monthly, quarterly and annual close, as well as preparing analysis and reporting for the line of business and Operations management. The individual will actively participate in the ongoing development, implementation, maintenance and application of the Company’s accounting practices, procedures and standards.

Position Responsibilities

• Execute month end closing activities including journal entries, financial analysis, account reconciliations and preparation of supporting schedules.
• Monitor daily Inventory movements (Sales Pad, MRO & Manual).
• Prepare or review monthly inventory reports, reconciliations, and analysis, e.g., overhead absorption, cost transfers, allocations, inventory reserves, and KPIs.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely and accurate transaction processing.
• Adhere to internal closing schedules and reporting deadlines.
• Assist with the preparation of internal financial reports, including monthly, quarterly and annual financial operating reports, as well as analyses of key performance measures.
• Analyze project costs and performance against budget. Identify variances and suggest corrective actions to ensure financial targets are met.
• Oversee the preparation of monthly Operations reforecasts and materials for management reporting.
• Prepare regular cost reports for project managers and senior management. Highlight and explain any significant overruns or savings, providing actionable insights.
• Ensure all project costs are accurately recorded and allocated, including making any cost adjustments to projects.
• Monitor project expenditure and commitments to ensure they remain within approved budget levels, proactively addressing any potential issues.
• Recommend improvements to cost control procedures aiming to reduce costs and improve efficiency through continuous process enhancement.
• Oversee Operations accounting, including adequacy of internal controls; seek and implement process improvements, efficiencies and automation opportunities in the financial close processes.
• Identify opportunities for improvements in reporting, automation, efficiency, internal controls, and ERP system enhancements; proactively lead the implementation of process improvements.
• Assess the Operations’ accounting staffing needs and recommend upgrading/hiring as needed to meet business demands and strategic initiatives.
• Provide coaching and guidance to junior members of the Operations accounting team.
• Work closely with project managers, finance staff, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely cost control.
• Monitoring and forecasting cash flow related to materials and labor costs.
• Responsible for timely monthly and quarterly closing and reporting, including J/E’s, Reconciliations, and Management Reports
• Working capital management (i.e., AP, Inventory, and Capital Expenses).
• Develop and maintain a robust management operating system, giving leadership real time feedback on KPIs.
• Support external audits, with timely and accurate information as requested.
• Assist the IT team with ERP implementation process as the point person for Operations Accounting.
• Ensuring financial controls are in place and are followed, maintaining data integrity.
• In conjunction with business leaders, support all budget and forecast efforts to include (but not limited to), sales, EBITDA, cash, labor requirements, sales planning, and capital requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Master’s degree or CPA preferred.
• 15+ years of progressive experience in accounting that preferably includes both public and private company experience; 5+ years of managerial experience.
• Education or experience which demonstrates a thorough understanding of manufacturing, inventory, and cost accounting.
• Advanced knowledge of accounting methods, GAAP, procedures and principles, and internal controls.
• Experience with preparing and presenting financial reports for senior management.
• Ability to perform research, compile and analyze data, and write clear, concise and accurate reports on complex subjects.
• Significant working knowledge of various enterprise financial systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Office experience, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with an emphasis on Excel. Skilled in managing and analyzing large datasets efficiently.
• Ability to interpret complex financial data and translate it into actionable business insights.
• Must be fluent in English, with strong speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension skills.

• Experience in the aero-derivative services or manufacturing industry.
• Ability to work well both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community – tactful, mature and professional.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Great Plains Financials or other ERP systems is a plus.
