Job summary

Ellis Brooklyn, an award-winning fragrance brand, is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to lead month-end close, financial reporting, and GAAP compliance. This role partners with our third‑party accounting agency and works with leadership across operations, sales, and marketing to strengthen financial operations and reporting.

The ideal candidate has 6–8 years of progressive accounting experience, advanced Excel skills, and experience with ERP systems in a multi-entity environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
• 6–8 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, account reconciliations and month-end close processes.
• Experience working with multi-entity accounting environments preferred.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with ERP systems.
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
• Industry experience in distribution, e-commerce, consumer goods, retail or related industries preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Lead the relationship with our third party accounting agency including streamlining close processes while maintaining efficiency and accuracy.
• Lead the preparation of balance sheets, income statements, cash flow reports, and supporting schedules.
• Analyze financial data and investigate account variances to ensure reporting accuracy.
• Maintain detailed and well-documented workpapers for balance sheet accounts, tax support, and key P&L accounts.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and established internal controls.
• Assist with year-end audits, reviews, and requests from external accountants and auditors.
