Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee day-to-day accounting, payroll, and revenue recognition under ASC 606, producing monthly and quarterly GAAP-compliant statements in Seattle.

You will lead audit readiness, supervise month-end close, and manage tax compliance, working with external auditors and cross-functional teams.

The role includes implementing scalable ERP/automation tools, guiding budgeting and forecasting, and mentoring the finance staff in a fast-paced startup.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Experience in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Hands-on knowledge of manufacturing operations.
  • Strong US GAAP knowledge and financial reporting proficiency.
  • Experience managing an audit process with external auditors.
  • Experience implementing financial systems including AR/AP tools or ERP.
  • Ability to leverage AI tools and automated workflows to optimize accounting operations.
  • Expert in QuickBooks Online and NetSuite.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
  • Familiarity with SaaS subscription management/AR software.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and mentorship skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger entries, payroll processing, and revenue recognition.
  • Lead audit readiness and coordinate the company’s first financial statement audit.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
  • Oversee tax compliance at federal, state, local, sales, and payroll levels with external advisors.
  • Drive process improvements and efficiency initiatives within the finance function.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting for strategic planning.
  • Support cross-functional ad hoc projects and initiatives.
  • Oversee inventory and cost accounting, including WIP, finished goods, and COGS.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Evaluate and implement scalable accounting systems and automation tools, including the future ERP environment.
  • Report to the Head of Finance and collaborate with finance, operations, and other departments.

Job description

  • Oversee inventory and cost accounting, including work in process, finished goods, and cost of goods sold
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Evaluate and implement scalable accounting systems and automation tools, including the future ERP environment
  • Report to the Head of Finance and collaborate with finance, operations, and other departments
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Hands-on knowledge of manufacturing operations
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and proficiency in financial reporting
  • Demonstrated experience managing an audit process, including selection of and interaction with external auditors
  • Hands-on experience implementing financial systems, including AR/AP tools or an ERP
  • Ability to leverage AI tools and automated workflows to optimize accounting operations, enhance variance analysis, and drive close/reporting efficiencies
  • Expert in accounting software such as QuickBooks Online and NetSuite
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
  • Proficient in SaaS subscription management/AR software
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret financial data and communicate recommendations across multiple stakeholders
  • Detail-oriented with commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting
  • Experience in people management/team mentorship preferred
