Job summary

Hanwha Defense USA, Inc. is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee core accounting operations and deliver accurate financial reporting.

The role handles month‑end closes, project accounting, payroll support, and indirect rate calculations while liaising with system vendors and internal users. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in government contracting environments, strong supervisory skills, and fluency in English with Korean language ability preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must have strong communication and supervisory skills in a manufacturing/contracting environment.
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint, SAP, and internal financial systems is essential.
  • Advanced organizational abilities and time management are required to manage multiple close cycles.
  • Fluent English; bilingual English/Korean is preferred to interact with the Korean parent company.
  • Degree requirements include a Bachelor’s in Finance/Accounting; a Master’s is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee monthly close process and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Direct project accounting, payroll support, and indirect rate calculations.
  • Prepare and review JEs, AP vouchers, and costpoint data reconciliations.
  • Lead labor, revenue, and project accounting activities, including cost allocations.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and vendor interfaces for financial systems.
  • Support audits and maintain compliance with relevant government contracting regulations.

Job description

The Accounting Manager oversees core accounting operations, ensures accurate financial reporting, and administers critical systems such as Deltek Costpoint and SAP Concur. This role will be in charge of month-end close, project accounting, payroll support, indirect rate calculations, and proposal preparation, while serving as the primary point of contact for system vendors and internal users.

Key Responsibilities
1) Accounting Operations
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and approve/post JEs (excluding leases).
  • Approve and post AP vouchers; enter and post invoices in Costpoint.
  • Prepare, reconcile, and maintain balance sheet accounts including prepaid, accruals, AP, AR, fixed assets, payroll accounts, LOC payable, interest, and other assets.
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare fixed asset capitalization, depreciation/amortization, and disposals.
  • Prepare reclass vouchers including late expense submissions and deposits.
  • Prepare bi-weekly payroll vouchers and support HR with complex payroll calculations (e.g., expatriate payroll).
2) Labor, Project, and Revenue Accounting
  • Reconcile and post timesheets and labor distribution.
  • Set up and maintain projects in Costpoint, including revenue/billing configuration, POP, and project workforces.
  • Set up and maintain leave accruals.
  • Calculate and post revenue (Miscellaneous & Service).
  • Set up, maintain, and calculate direct cost allocations (multi-job allocations).
  • Prepare quarterly indirect cost pool reconciliations and maintain cost pool forecasting models for proposal pricing.
  • Calculate burden and maintain monthly project reporting.
  • Generate monthly trial balance.
3) Reporting & Compliance
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual close reporting packages and present key financial results to the Director of Finance and senior leadership
  • Maintain reliable financial reporting based on Costpoint data and reconcile discrepancies as needed.
  • Lead internal reviews of close results, providing analysis of variances and significant trends.
  • Review and document allowable costs in accordance with DCAA (Defense Contract Audit Agency) regulations.
  • Prepare supporting documentation for internal and external audits, ensuring all financial processes meet audit requirements.
4) Financial Planning & Strategic Analysis
  • Support financial planning processes including annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long-term financialmodeling.
  • Analyze financial performance trends across projects, indirect rates, labor distribution, and departmental spending to identify risks and opportunities
  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis to support strategic initiatives, investment decisions, and process improvements.
5) Leadership, Coaching & Stakeholder Management
  • Mentor, coach, and develop senior analysts and accounting staff, ensuring strong technical capability and professional growth within the finance team.
  • Serve as a key financial partner to operational leaders, program management, supply chain, HR, and corporate headquarters, providing insights and guidance to support strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Support the Director of Finance in strengthening team performance, collaboration, and communication across multiple departments.
Qualifications
  • Must be U.S. citizen or with no restrictions on working for a federal contractor
  • Excellent management and supervisory skills in manufacturing industry
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Deltek Costpoint or SAP
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Bilingual English/Korean (fluent) requiredto communicate/interact with Korean parent company
Education/Experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Finance/Accounting and Masters Degree preferred.
  • Ten or more years of professional accounting experience preferred.
  • Five or more years of experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager
Special Knowledge / Skills:
  • Experience in government contracting or project-based accountingpreferred.
  • Experience preparing indirect rate structures and cost pool preferred.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
  • Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer. Must be able to lift 20 pounds. Vision abilities required by this job includes close vision and ability to adjust focus.
