Job summary

Department of Public Safety – Office of Management and Finance (DPS-OMF) in Baton Rouge seeks an Accountant Manager 4 to lead accounting and fiscal programs across eight DPS agencies and four non-DPS agencies.

Responsibilities include directing the preparation of financial reports, monitoring daily activity, and supervising staff. Appointment type is Promotional; work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

• Eight years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking.
• Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus five years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking.
• A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus five years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking.
• A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics plus five years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking.
• An advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics plus four years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking.
• Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license plus three years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking.

Responsibilities

• Planning, organizing, and managing accounting and fiscal programs for all DPS agencies and non-DPS agencies.
• Directing the preparation of financial reports and daily financial monitoring.
• Supervising staff and coordinating procurement functions.

Education

Bachelor’s degree with 24 semester hours in accounting + 5 years accounting experience

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics + 5 years accounting experience

Advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics + 4 years experience

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license + 3 years experience
