Job summary

UL Research Institutes and UL Standards & Engagement is seeking a Senior Accounting Coordinator in Evanston, IL to support daily accounting operations. The role handles invoices, payments, journal entries, and close processes with emphasis on accuracy and confidentiality.

You will work with teams across the organization to ensure compliant financial records, assist with audits, and contribute to a growing finance function in a mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of directly related experience.

Responsibilities

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accounting Coordinator at UL Research Institutes and UL Standards & Engagement, based in our Evanston, Illinois, office.

This is a hybrid position onsite (Tuesday & Thursday) at our Evanston, IL office.

The Senior Accounting Coordinator supports finance operations by processing transactions, preparing reports, reconciling accounts, maintaining documentation, and assisting with audit and close activities. This role requires accuracy, confidentiality, strong organizational skills, and sound judgment to ensure accounting activities are completed efficiently and in accordance with established policies and procedures.

What you’ll learn and achieve:

As the Senior Accounting Coordinator, you will play a key role in the rapid growth of UL as you:

  • Support day-to-day accounting operations by accurately processing invoices, payments, journal entries, and other transactions.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities, including account analysis, documentation, and follow-up on open items.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, investigate reconciling items, and coordinate resolution of discrepancies.
  • Support internal and external audit activities by preparing schedules, gathering supporting documentation, and responding to auditor requests.
  • Collaborate with departments across the organization to resolve accounting questions, support financial compliance, and ensure transactions are recorded accurately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
