Job summary

Aprio is hiring a Senior Accounting Associate for its Real Estate Client Accounting Services team. The role acts as the primary client contact, delivering month-end financials and advisory work for construction clients, including general contractors and franchise operators.

It is a highly collaborative, fast-paced, team-based environment. You will mentor junior staff, apply US GAAP knowledge, and work across property management systems like Yardi and MRI while focusing on proactive client

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Accounting required or CPA preferred.
  • 4+ years of property accounting experience, ideally in a client service environment.
  • Delivers month-end financials and advisory work to clients.
  • Proficient in US GAAP and strong knowledge of real estate accounting principles and property management systems.
  • Fosters continuous learning and professional growth within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with global team on a daily basis to foster a highly collaborative and productive team environment.
  • Acts as primary point of contact for clients
  • Completes ad hoc projects for clients as needed that require hands-on effort
  • Completes review of draft work papers and financials and provides review notes to the team
  • Perform variance analysis and deliver actionable commentary for client review
  • Ensures timely completion of client deliverables outlined in MSAs, including monthly financial reporting packs
  • Manage rent rolls, CAM reconciliations, lease schedules, and tenant ledgers
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable for property operations
  • Utilize property management systems (Yardi, MRI) alongside CAS platforms
  • Assist clients during annual audits and coordinate with external auditors
  • Ensure sound awareness of client deliverables and scope creep
  • Highly client facing – prioritize client contact over emails
  • Focus on proactive advice and notifications to clients throughout the month
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to team development initiatives
  • Demonstrates understanding of Aprio services to identify growth opportunities for services

The Senior Accounting Associate – Construction acts as the primary point of contact for clients on a day-to-day basis and is responsible for ensuring that all deliverables outlined in the MSA’s are met. Client Leads are highly client-facing, proactive, and spend the majority of their time focused on client interaction to provide a hands-on white glove level of service to the construction clients we serve (including general contractors, subcontractors, specialty trades, and franchisee operators). This is a very hands-on role within a highly collaborative, fast-paced, fast-growing, team-based delivery model.

Position Responsibilities
  • Collaborates with global team on a daily basis to foster a highly collaborative and productive team environment
  • Acts as primary point of contact for clients
  • Completes ad hoc projects for clients as needed that require “rolling up your sleeves” and completing tasks for clients
  • Completes review of draft work papers and financials provided by global team and provides review notes back to the team
  • Perform variance analysis and deliver actionable commentary for client review
  • Ensures timely completion of client deliverables outlined in MSA’s, including sending monthly financial reporting packs to clients
  • Manage rent rolls, CAM reconciliations, lease schedules, and tenant ledgers
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable for property operations
  • Utilize property management systems (e.g., Yardi, MRI) alongside CAS platforms
  • Assist clients during annual audits and coordinate with external auditors
  • Ensures sound awareness of the client deliverables and manages scope creep
  • Highly client facing – prioritizes client contact over emails
  • Focuses on providing proactive advice and notifications to clients throughout the month

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Accounting, CPA preferred
  • Industry-specific experience: 4+ years of property accounting experience, ideally in a client service environment
  • Delivers month-end financials and advisory work to clients
  • Proficient in knowledge of US GAAP, and strong knowledge of real estate accounting principles and property management systems
  • Fosters an environment of continuous learning, seeking to become technically strong within the segment you serve
  • Positive, highly professional attitude and desire to work within a global team
