Job summary

Timken is seeking a seasoned accounting professional to ensure accurate financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP. The role oversees monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, journal entries, and asset accounting across Timken entities and business units.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance, 4+ years of accounting experience (manufacturing a plus), and preferably a CPA/CMA. SAP ERP proficiency and advanced Excel skills are required for success in this role.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • 4+ years experience in Accounting or Financial Analysis; manufacturing experience a plus.
  • CPA or CMA licenses preferred.
  • Experience with SAP ERP and strong Excel proficiency.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements with fluctuation analysis and explanations for variances.
  • Complete month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Lead fixed asset accounting activities: capitalization, depreciation, retirements, transfers, impairments, CIP monitoring.
  • Review capital project and expenditure activity for compliance with US GAAP and capitalization policies.
  • Support special projects and continuous improvement in accounting standards.

Purpose: This position exists to ensure the company has financial statements that are accurate, timely, and prepared in accordance with U.S. GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). This position is responsible for completion and analysis of financial statements (Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Statement of Cash Flows) for assigned Timken legal entities and business units.

  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, providing fluctuation analysis and detailed explanations for significant financial statement variances.
  • Complete month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analysis accurately, timely, and in compliance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Lead and support fixed asset accounting activities, including capitalization of assets, depreciation accounting, asset retirements, transfers, impairments, and Construction-in-Progress (CIP) monitoring and review.
  • Review capital project and expenditure activity to ensure compliance with company capitalization policies and U.S. GAAP requirements. Evaluate planned and actual expenditures and recommend accounting treatment adjustments when necessary.
  • Support special projects and other duties as assigned, with a focus on continuous improvement and adherence to evolving accounting standards and best practices.

Technical/Functional Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting concepts, including property, plant, and equipment (PP&E) accounting.
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with finance, operations, engineering, and project teams across domestic and international subsidiaries.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain accounting concepts and provide guidance to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 4+ years experience in Accounting or Financial Analysis, manufacturing industry experience is a plus.
  • CPA or CMA licenses preferred

This position may require access to United States export controlled technical data (“CTD”) and hardware under the Departments of US State (ITAR) and/or Commerce (EAR).
