Job summary

Hoar Construction in Birmingham, AL seeks a Senior Accountant, Special Projects, to maintain accurate accounting records for related-party entities, trusts, LLCs, and real estate investments, and to prepare timely financial statements.

You will work with executive leadership, external advisors and tax professionals, support decision-making, and help improve processes with strong GAAP knowledge, Excel skills, and multi-entity accounting experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
• 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience with financial statement prep and month-end close.
• Experience with multi-entity accounting, investment accounting, real estate, private equity, or family office accounting preferred.
• Experience working with financial institutions, tax professionals, investment advisors, or external service providers preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete and accurate accounting records for designated entities and real estate holdings.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and schedules.
• Perform reconciliations of cash, bank, brokerage, and other balance sheet accounts.
• Record and reconcile investment activity, including capital calls, distributions, and management fees.
• Coordinate bill payments, cash management, and treasury activities.
• Support tax preparation and reporting with external professionals.
• Assist with real estate accounting and financial reporting.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and controls.
