Job summary

Xylem seeks a Senior Accountant for its Charlotte, NC office on a hybrid schedule (in office 3 days per week). You will support month-end close, general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and balance sheet reconciliations across multiple business units, ensuring SOX compliance and adherence to accounting policy.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of hands-on accounting, strong Excel skills, and experience with SAP S/4HANA or Oracle. CPA is a plus; CPA progress acceptable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
• 3–5 years of hands-on accounting experience
• Strong analytical skills with working knowledge of the general ledger
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience with ERP systems (SAP S/4HANA, Oracle) and close/reconciliation tools (BlackLine, OneStream)
• Knowledge of SOX compliance and internal controls
• CPA certification or progress toward CPA is a plus

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations for month-end close across multiple business units.
• Manage accruals, pre-paid entries, inter-company adjustments and payroll/benefit/tax journal entries.
• Submit entries in BlackLine, SAP & Winshuttle Evolve.
• Maintain schedules, roll-forwards, and accounting support templates.
• Reconcile sub-ledgers to the general ledger and investigate variances.
• Assist with audits and SOX documentation.
• Identify process improvements and drive standardization/automation.

This role will play a critical part in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial records while ensuring compliance with SOX requirements and company accounting policies.The ideal candidate will possess strong general ledger expertise, experience with month-end close activities, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, shared services or multi-entity environment. Experience with SAP S/4HANA, Oracle, BlackLine, and OneStream is highly desirable.This role will be based in our Charlotte, NC office and work a hybrid (in office 3 days per week) schedule.Senior Accountant Responsibilities:Prepare journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations in support of month-end closing activities for multiple business units, ensuring proper documentation is obtainedAccruals and pre-paid journal entriesInter-company balancing, adjustments and reconciliationPayroll, severance, employee benefit and tax related journal entriesJournal entry submissions in Blackline, SAP & Winshuttle EvolvePrepare and maintain schedules, roll-forwards, reporting templates, and other accounting support files.Reconcile sub-ledgers to the general ledger identifying out of balances and their causes, resolving the possibility of future issuesRespond to accounting and general ledger inquiries from business partners.Provide documentation and support of entries to assist with interim and annual audits requests for both internal and external partners.Assist with ad hoc projects and analyses as requestedMaintain documentation supporting Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance.Consistently evaluate areas for process improvement.Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and enhance efficiency through standardization, automation, and best practices.Ability to adapt and effectively interact with teams at different states and facilitiesSenior Accountant Qualifications:Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field3-5 years of hands-on accounting experienceMust possess strong analytical skills and working knowledge of the general ledger.Competency with advanced Microsoft Excel functionsExperience with Oracle, SAP ECC6/S4 or other ERP accounting systemsExperience with BlackLine, OneStream, or similar financial close and reconciliation tools.Experience working in a shared services environment is preferred.Knowledge of SOX compliance and internal control frameworks preferred.Experience in manufacturing is a plus.Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.CPA certification or progress toward CPA certification is a plus.XYLEM DOES NOT PROVIDE SPONSORSHIP FOR THIS POSITION.The estimated salary range for this position is $85,000 to $110,000 plus bonus. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.
