SimplePractice, LLC is seeking an experienced accountant in Santa Monica to own monthly/quarterly close activities and balance sheet reconciliations. You will research complex accounting topics, document policies, and partner with Finance, Legal, Product, and Engineering on initiatives.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years of public or industry accounting, strong GAAP knowledge, and excellent communication. This role offers growth in a fast-paced, remote-enabled health tech company.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of relevant public accounting and/or industry experience, with a B.A. or B.S. in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred).
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and the ability to research and document complex accounting topics.
• Experience with internal controls, including design, implementation, and execution.
• Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to partner with and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
• A track record of delivering on challenging projects independently, with a solution-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• Plan and perform monthly and quarterly close activities, including balance sheet reconciliations, variance analyses, and internal management reporting.
• Research and document technical accounting positions for new accounting pronouncements and business initiatives.
• Draft and maintain accounting policies and procedural documentation.
• Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and provide clear variance explanations to key stakeholders.
• Support the design, implementation, and execution of internal control procedures.
• Help build scalable accounting processes to support company growth, including identifying opportunities for automation.
• Partner with Product, Systems, Treasury, Tax, People, and Legal on financial systems and process improvements.
• Support external audit requests and provide supporting schedules and analysis as needed.
