Job summary

Montgomery County Board of Education seeks a Senior Accountant to manage accounting functions, budget preparation and financial reporting for multiple funds. Responsibilities include bank reconciliations, ledger maintenance, journal entries, and grant accounting.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field with at least 15 accounting hours, and at least three years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in accounting or business-related field with at least 15 hours in accounting.
• Minimum of three years of experience in preparing reports, maintaining records, budgeting, and finance.
• Familiarity with state licensed budgeting, accounting and payroll software; AASBO certification within three years.

Responsibilities

• Prepares monthly bank reconciliations for multiple accounts.
• Maintains and reconciles ledgers; prepares journal entries and posts to GL.
• Provides accounting services for the school district budget and state/federal grants.
• Assists in financial reporting for all funds and year-end closing functions.
• Coordinates with auditors and responds to information requests.
