Job summary

Apogee Enterprises, Inc. is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead the corporate close and ensure SOX compliance. You will manage journal entries, reconciliations, intercompany activity, and SEC reporting with cross-functional collaboration across segments.

The role emphasizes process improvement,Strong Excel and SAP-BPC proficiency, and timely, accurate financial reporting. Hybrid work with in-office days at Bloomington, MN; some travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, including SOX experience at a public company or CPA firm.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft applications.
• Experience with financial systems, including adapting to new systems and technology.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, and ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
• Proactive problem solver, strategic thinker and able to drive process improvement.
• Results-oriented with ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Hybrid role with in-office days in Bloomington, MN; travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Accounting and reporting: analyze and monitor corporate accounts and prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliations.
• Review intercompany accounts monthly and resolve differences with business units.
• Assist with new entity acquisitions to support close and reporting.
• Prepare corporate and consolidated schedules for quarterly and annual SEC reporting.
• Lead corporate close processes and ensure internal controls are effective.
• Coordinate year-end close activities and retained earnings allocations.
• Design and improve standardized processes across locations and teams.
• Ensure SOX compliance and control effectiveness.
• Support census/surveys and manufacturing inputs for deadlines.
